June 12, 2006 Minutes

The meeting was called to order by the president. The minutes for the last meeting were approved.

 

Wes Turner reported that materials have been ordered and are on their way to the BMC in Nalerigu. Additional supplies are packaged at the Guest House in Accra and ready to be shipped to the BMC. Mr. Turner estimates that the electrical renovations could cost $10,000. A crew of electricians from the Church at Northside will travel to the BMC to work.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Balance is $281,008.27

 

The Faile Foundation now has a checking account and money market account opened at Citizen’s First Bank from First Floyd. Karen Smith is assisting with these accounts. $15,000 total has been spent on the renovation process thus far.

Volunteers: Four students have been planned through spring 2007.

 

Andy Anderson, CEO, of Great Escapes International Travel, Inc. has agreed to help us with any travel needs. Mr. Anderson’s cell phone is 770-365-5221.

 

Dr. Louis Latif has refurbished a scope that needs to be shipped back to BMC.

 

Vicki Barnes was unable to join us at the Board Meeting. She was on a mission trip to Missouri. Vicki wants to have a fund raiser in Cartersville. The Kearns Family has offered their farm for a fund raising event.

 

George Faile said that he will make a request for specific needs of the hospital and we will then get the list to INMED.

June 16-17, 2006, Cindy, Paul, George, and Elisabeth will attend the Executive Board Meeting for the Baptist Medical and Dental Fellowship in Atlanta, Ga. The BMDF is a source of volunteers and scholarship.

 

The Douglas Family plans to be at the BMC June 26-July 2. Dr. Jimmy Douglas and Freeman Brook, Mercer Medical Student, will work in the clinic while Laurie and the children provide a children’s ministry.

 

Two crews led by Bob Claytor have planned to go the BMC in July to repaint the interior of the hospital.
